Discover Apulia & Salento

The Salento region is home to many treasures! There are picturesque bays on the Adriatic coast, long sandy beaches on the Ionic sea and wonderful cultural and culinary highlights throughout our province.

Historic cities

The Salento will enchant and amaze you. The country side farm towns and the cities such as Lecce and Gallipoli are only a few of the main destinations we can recommend to explore. Here in the South there is a combination of Baroque architeture, medieval frescos and the influence from across the Mediterranean from Turkie and Greece.

Adriatic coastline and sandy beaches

Driving along the Adriatic coast from Otranto to Santa Maria di Leuca is one of the most scenic roads in Europe. Breathtaking vistas, white cities hanging in the cliffs and little fishing villages along the way make the drive a wonderful day trip.

On the Adriatic side, you will find deep blue swimming holes, natural hot pools and cliff jumps. Once you go around the bottom of the heel in Santa Maria di Leuca, you will find the long white sandy beaches on the Ionic sea. Enjoy an Apéro at sunset after a day on the beach and take in the Salento spirits.

Lighhouses, trulli and masserie

Our favourite destinations to view interesting architecture are Alberobello, Lecce, Santa Maria di Leuca and Castro to name a few. Along the coast line you can find the ancient alarm towers, lighthouses and other delights.

Apulia is famous for its trulli (traditional stone houses) and masserie, that are masterfully built out of stones and strawn across the countryside. Discovering these unique architectural buildings is worth a drive around.

Near the L’UPUPA farm you can find ancient olive oil mills that are carved underground out of the rock. Discover the history of olive oil going back to over 2000 years.
